10 Quick Fundraising Ideas
For Non-Profit

  1. The Founder Gives
I know this seems obvious but make sure you as the founder are giving to your nonprofit. In fact an easy way to do this is by setting up automatic monthly donations! It is much easier to ask others to give to your organization if you yourself are consistently giving as well.

  2. Implement a Board Giving Requirement
Supporters of your nonprofit should always be the leadership of the organization. If your board doesn’t believe in your nonprofit, it’s harder to convince other people to give as well. start by implementing a requirement that all members of the board make an annual donation. You can specify an amount or you can say that the donation can be any amount, but the goal is to be able to tell other supporters that 100% of your board is actively giving. If you have board members that are not giving, use that as an opportunity to have a candid conversation with them to find out why they’re not comfortable financially supporting you!

  3. Host an in person event or a virtual event
Hosting an annual fundraiser is a quick and easy way to raise money for your nonprofit. Create a list of all of your supporters, invite them to attend and then use multiple ways to raise funds Like having a silent auction, selling tickets or even doing a live ask during the program.

  4. Schedule Your FREE 30-Minute
    Nonprofit Consultation (Value: $450) .

  5. Apply for Grants
Getting Grant funding allows your nonprofit to receive large amounts of funding all at once, from an organization that believes in your cause. Make sure you’re only applying for grants that your organization qualifies for! Also make sure that you apply to a lot of them, to increase your chances of earning one.

  6. Get fees from products or services
Nonprofits can generate revenue by selling products or services. What you need to know is that you can charge for products or services as long as they are related to your charitable purposes. If they’re not related to your charitable services, you’ll likely have to pay taxes on the income as if you were a for profit business.

  7. Get Corporate Sponsors
Sponsorship is to ask vendors that you currently pay every month! You got your landlords, your rent, your mortgage company, your babysitter, your lawn service, your church! I mean so many people you paid a monthly basis. ask anyone that you pay or that you help on a monthly basis to donate money to your charity just send them a sponsorship letter and proof of your tax exempt status.

  8. In Kind Donations
There are lots of organizations that may not be in a position to donate cash but they’re willing to donate items that have value. Consider asking companies to donate laptops, gift cards or other items that may help your nonprofit accomplish your goal.

  9. Endowment income
Do you ever wonder how some nonprofits are able to award scholarships or have funds to operate year after year without having to raise huge sums of money? Some major colleges and universities as well as other nonprofits accomplish their fundraising goals by having an endowment: this means that they raise in initial amount of money (for example $100,000) and instead of spending this money, they invest it which is called the principle and they pay for expenses from the interest that is earned from that principle. This means that future amounts that they raise are added to the principle which allows the fund to continue forever. In the fundraising industry we call this “lasting in perpetuity”.

  10. Capital Campaigns
Do you have a big goal in mind like buying a building, purchasing land? Launching a capital campaign may be a great way to create excitement among your supporters and raise significant funds.

  11. Planned Giving
Consider asking your most trusted supporters to include your nonprofit in the estate planning. I know it may feel awkward but many of your most loyal supporters would be honored to include your charity in their will or trust!
